What were Carol Mangis and I doing this beautiful morning? Visiting the 24th Street Loft in Manhattan, naturally, to get a sneak peek at Westinghouse's new line of LCD TVs, LCD monitors, and digital photo frames. The loft was set up to feature Westinghouse products in different rooms of a home--even the bathroom! [And I would like very much to live in this loft, please.--Carol M.]

In the kitchen stood the new 26-inch SK-26H590D and 32-inch SK-32H590D LCD HDTV/DVD combos. These LCD TVs have a front-loading DVD slot, which are actually the same optical drives you'd find in a laptop. Both models are slim for easy mounting on the wall and utilize the company's PixelDirect technology. The SK-26H590D and SK-32H590D are currently shipping with an MSRP of $699 and $899 respectively.
The living room showcased a new line of 1080p LCD HDTVs, part of the TX series, available in 42-inch, 47-inch, and 52-inch screen sizes. No matter where we sat in the living room, we were able to see the screen perfectly without any reflections. Carol and I aren't experts when it comes to HDTVs, but the quality on these were excellent! "The TX series ATSC video processing platform utilizes a chip set that is specifically optimized for high-definition viewing. This allows viewers to watch high-definition content without the artifacts and noise associated with several competitors' TVs." Plus, these TV sets feature SpineDesign intelligent cable access; DayBright panel technology for stunning daytime or nighttime viewing; and Autosource technology, that automatically turns the TV on and adjusts it when an external source is detected. THe 42-inch TX-42F430S LCD HDTV ($1,599) and 47-inch TX-47F430S LCD HDTV ($1,799) will be available in May; the 52-inch TX-52F480S LCD HDTV, price not determined yet, will be available in September.
In the bedroom and bathroom, we were able to view the company's new digital photo frames with a patent-pending MosaicView technology for displaying multiple photos at once. When in this mode, the frame will display your photos like a collage. The DPF-0702 ($119) has 128MB of memory and a 7-inch screen. The DPF-0802 ($179) has a high 800 x 600 resolution and the DPF-1021 ($249) has an 800 x 480 resolution; both sport two USB ports. The biggest frame, the DPF-1411 ($399), has a 14.1-inch screen. All are currently shipping.
The office featured several new LCD monitors, including the 24-inch L2410NM ($649) and 20-inch L2046NV ($279). The 24-inch monitor features 1920 x 1200 resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio, and several inputs including HDMI-HDCP. THe 20-inch features 1400 x 1050 resolution, 5-millisecond response time, 650:1 contrast ratio and wide 170/160-degree viewing angles. Both are available now.
