Typing on a Windows Mobile device can be frustrating. However, with the release of the Phraze-It keyboard from Prevalent Devices, your typing experience may improve substantially.

The Phraze-It keyboard features 15 large keys displayed on your Pocket PC's touch screen that allow you to type any letter, number or punctuation with ease. But if you're expecting a QWERTY-like device where all of the letters are arranged as they are on a typical keyboard, think again. The company has designed a layout that they claim is intuitive and easy-to-learn, but all five vowels are arranged in order (A, E, I, O, U).

The keyboard is arranged in three rows, and the company promises the keys will be large enough where a mis-type is all but eliminated. Although the keyboard gives you lots of room to type, it still offers about five lines of space above it so you can view and edit your work above it.

The Phraze-It Keyboard 2.0 is available now at the Prevalent Devices website for $17.76. But if you're not too sure about it yet, the company offers a 10-day free limited trial version so you can give it a whirl before you drop your hard-earned cash.

It is a relief to finally type with my index finger on my Pocket PC phone. The Phraze-It Keyboard has large typing keys on the screen and the letters, numbers, punctuation and symbols of a computer keyboard, but you can still read 6 lines on your Windows Mobile phone. Reading 6 lines gives you the ability to read and edit like at your laptop. Full screen keyboards don't offer that. You can see how large the keys are of the Phraze-It Keyboard for typing on the touch screen.

Most people I know using PDA phones have lost their stylus. Since the Phraze-It Keyboard keys are for typing with your index finger or for thumbing, losing the stylus is ok.

It is really cool to type a full email or instant message. The Phraze-It keyboard has buttons like Sym, Punc, Shift > Punc, Shift > Space and Shift > Backspace for the computer keyboard symbols.

On the Phraze-It Keyboard, there are symbols like www. @, http:// for easily entering emails and text messages. I use the Phraze-It Keyboard also for browsing on my Pocket PC phone

The Phraze-It Keyboard also has computer keyboard keys such as Space, Backspace and Enter.

Phraze-It is based on how we all memorized the alphabet and uses what we all know for its bottom row of keys A, E, I, O and U.
Type an A and the Keyboard offers you A, B, C and D as the choices for entering. When you type an E, the choices are E, F, G and H.
Type the I and I, J, K, L, M, and N are ready for entering.
Type an O and it displays O, P, Q, R, S and T.
For the U, you guessed it, the letters offered for typing with your finger are U, V, W, X, Y and Z. Sound familiar?

If you want to type 4 or 5 paragraphs using your PDA phone, definitely use the Phraze-It Keyboard and type with your index finger. Editing is easy using either the backspace or using your finger tip with nail to place the cursor at the right spot.

You can also hold your Windows Mobile Pocket PC phone and thumb using the same hand to enter on the Phraze-It Keyboard.

The Phraze-It keyboard definitely beats the stylus and telephone keypad. Those are no match for the Phraze-It Keyboard in comfort and ability to type longer text. I like typing with my index finger better than thumbing on tiny keys.

Prevalent Devices bundles the Phraze-It Game with the Phraze-It Keyboard.

The Phraze-It Game offers a word or phrase coded in vowels. For instance a "Law and Order is I A U - A I A - O O A E O" Try this one - O A I - E O A I A I O A O (San Francisco). Find the Phraze-It Game under Start, Programs and Games.
