If the USB turntables weren't quite right for you, perhaps the LP-to-CD Recorder will fit more easily into your home stereo system. If all you're looking to do is archive your record collection to CD for portability or posterity, this LP-to-CD direct recorder might be more of what you're looking for. The device looks more like something that would fit into an entertainment center, and sports a bright LCD that lets you control not only the record player itself but also the built-in CD player and AM/FM stereo.
To record, pop a CD-R or CD-RW into the CD tray and use either the included remote or the LCD to burn a single track from your LPs or the whole album to CD. The system supports 33s, 45s, and even 78s, and will function like a normal record player if you're not looking to burn your records and just want to enjoy them. The device works on AC power when sitting on the shelf, but two double-A batteries are all you need for this 23-pound powerhouse. It's available from Hammacher Schlemmer for $399.95. [via GizmoDude ]
