robo_tout.jpg

In an ideal future, we see robots doing tasks for humans that might be too dangerous or trivial. Using robots to work as a tout for sex clubs didn't quite make my list of potential robot jobs but those in Osaka, Japan have other ideas. Due to a law which prohibits humans from soliciting customers by pointing them to local sex clubs, this is now a job that only a robot can do.

Meanwhile, Osaka's new mechanical adult information center used to direct traffic around construction sites. It cost around $4,000 to get it upgraded for it's new job and the robot can now be seen attracting attention with a sign that reads "Ask me!", which it periodically raises up and down. I doubt the new human-sized robot-tout has much of an opinion about its career change position but the "sailor suit" high school uniform kind of says it all. If we're ever to incur the wrath of robot-kind, this would probably be the reason why. [via Pink Tentacle]
