picard%20solar%20bag.jpgThe Picard Solar Powered Bag may share the name as this geek's favorite Star Trek Captain (I've just outed myself, I know), but the bag is about as futuristic as any Sci-Fi show I've seen. It was designed to keep your peripherals charged and ready to use wherever you go, and the full solar panel sewn into the bag's flap does the trick. The Picard Bag is a standard messenger bag to be carried over your shoulder and comes in black leather.

The panels on the bag's flap will charge any devices plugged into the ports on the interior, and while there are few details available, it is supposed to be available in August for a whopping $700 retail. Pretty expensive, but that just might be the price of never having to deal with a dead cell phone, laptop, or mp3 player battery ever again. By the way, Picard is the name of the German high-fashion company that's manufacturing the bag, not an homage to Star Trek fans around the world.
