I was surprised and excited by the latest iRobot announcement, until I realized that the new pool cleaning robots, the Verro 300 and 600 are not iRobot creations. They're rebranded bots from Aqautron.
Even so, what they can do is kind of cool. The submerge themselves and crawl all over the bottom and sides of virtually any pool, cleaning all manner of grime , flotsam and jetsam from your otherwise pristine pool.
At $799 for the 300 and $1,199 for the 600, these aren't check-out-counter items at your local pool store. Then again, pool boy services probably cost at least that much a year.
