H-Cell

Back in January at CES, I got a glimpse of Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies' upgraded hydrogen R/C car kit, the H-Cell. Now, it's available for purchase. The H-Cell carries 30 liters of solid state hydrogen to power a remote-controlled car at speeds of 22 mph. It was designed as a "drop-in" hydrogen fuel cell upgrade system for 1/10th scale R/C cars, which explains the $1,500 price tag. Housed in a futuristic body shell with twin air-cooling fans and blue LEDs, it runs 65-70 minutes on a single charge.

Launching later this year is a $150 version of the H-Racer, which company reps report will offer longer run times, higher speed, and radio-control functionalities.
