G-NET has announced the release of its newly revised CarPC, which allows drivers quick computer access while on the road. The new G-NET CarPC comes equipped with Digital Dash 5 software featuring an integrated audio player, video player, DVD player, Web browser, vehicle diagnostics utility, satellite radio tuner, and other items that can be used in a mobile environment.
The new platform features a 1.5-ghz processor, 50 percent faster than its predecessor, with higher-speed DDR2 RAM and a 5,400-rpm mobile hard drive. G-NET stepped up the CarPC's memory to 1GB and storage space to 80GB, and provides an optional touchscreen LCD built into the dash. The Digital Dash software loads the Windows operating system, letting drivers use home and office applications.
Along with the revised Car PC, the company has also announced the release of the latest version of its GmunLock device, which is an override module for the navigation systems on GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac full-size SUVs. The GmunLock allows the DVD player and navigation-input features to be used while the vehicle is in motion, and also adds support for the connection of an aftermarket backup camera. The CarPC costs $995, but to get the in-dash LCD, wireless keyboard/mouse hybrid, GPS, Sirius satellite radio, and car diagnostics modules you'll have to cough up a lot of extra cash.
