The Dragon I iPod Dock looks nothing like a dragon, to be fair. There are no wings, no neck, no scales. What there are, however, lots of small speakers on bend-able and adjustable cables. The individual 5-watt speakers are attached to adjustable "tentacles" that can be positioned any way you like; either for the best acoustics or the coolest look, and the four speakers together add up to a 20-watt sound system. Simply rest your iPod in the dock, adjust the speakers, and use the included remote (also black and red to match the dock) to control the tunes from afar.
The entire dock was created by Smart Design, a design company known for an unorthodox but attractive approach to design. Smart Design has worked with Sirius to make satellite radios and OXO to make kitchen appliances, and this new iPod Dock, coated in shiny red and black plastic, is indicative of their work.
The Dragon I iPod Dock is expected to be available later this month. No pricing information has been officially released, but it's expected to cost approximately $350. I suppose that's the price you pay for cutting edge design. [via ShinyShiny]
