Toshiba Satellite P100-S9772.jpg

Perhaps to compete with this Asus gamng notebook announcement, Toshiba has announced three gaming notebooks of its own: the P100-ST9752, Satellite P100-ST9762 and Satellite P100-ST9772 (shown). All boast Windows Ultimate.

Toshiba quotes a $1,999 price point for all of the P100 models, although a quick check of the Toshiba Web site (the only place they're currently being sold, by the way) reveals that the ST9752 is priced at $1,999, while the ST9772 is priced at $2,899, without all of the fancy add-ons.

All the models weigh about 7.1 pounds, and feature a 17-inch widescreen LCD; the two higher-end models offer 1680x1050 native resolution, while the ST9752 supports 1440x900 native resolution. The two higher-end models also offer the Intel core 2 Duo T7200, which runs at 2.0-GHz and offers 4MB of shared cache; the ST9752 includes the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5600 standard, which runs at 1.83-GHz and offers 2MB of shared cache.

Let's see: Since we're talking gaming, let's get to the gaming specs: 1GB of PC5300 DDR-2 memory on the lower two models, 2GB on the ST-9772; a 160GB hard drive on the ST9762 and ST9772, with a 120GB drive reserved for the cheaper notebook. A "DVD Super Multi" drive covers all of the read-write standard DVD formats, while 802.11/b/g supports covers the wireless bases. Four USB 2.0 ports are included.

All of the notebooks include Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, a higher-speed version of Bluetooth, although it requires compatible peripherals to provide the true speed enhancement.

Ummm, your giving specs on a gaming computer without mentioning the GPU ?

Were you awake when you wrote this??

Wow, do all of your comments have to be trollish jabs that don't add anything to the discussion, SciPunk? Are you awake when you're trolling?

Honestly, the only chipset that a gaming laptop could possibly have that would make it worthwhile as a portable gaming device is the NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GTX. Which, by the way, just happens to be under the hood of every one of these Toshiba models, which a quick click on the links above would have told you.

SciPunk could have put it more diplomatic, but I thought the same thing.

Nothing clicking on a link couldn't have told you guys. Shame writing an article means the writer has to think for you too. :p
