I don't know about you, but I think tripods are ugly - they just sit there on three legs and take up space. Echoing my philosophy on life and tripods, Fromm Works, Inc. has announced the Quik Pod. Simply connect your point-and-shoot camera, camcorder, or lightweight DSLR to the sturdy, aluminium and polycarbonate frame, extend it to the desired length with the adjustable arm, make sure it's straight with the "self-positioning mirror" and snap the picture.
Once you're done showing off, you can fold the 3.5 ounce device up and stick it into your pocket for easy transportation. If your loyalty still lies with the old tripod, don't worry, Fromm has you covered. With the purchase of the slightly more expensive Quik Pod Pro+, you can quickly switch your Quik Pod into a tripod with the included adapter.
Fromm Works has promised to show off their new baby at the Photo Marketing Association event in Las Vegas, and claim a variety of accessories (namely a remote and lighting apps) are in the works to add to the Quik Pod's functionality. Look for it at camera retailers for under $30 later this year.
