I don't wear a watch. I admit it - I use my cell phone to tell time. I have my phone in my pocket all the time, and I got tired of breaking watch straps and cracking watch faces. I thought I was off watches for good until I saw the Sand+Time LED Watch. It's purely a concept design by Russian designer Pavel Balykin, so I imagine I won't see one on a store shelf or online store anytime soon, but I can only wish.
In clock mode, the watch tells regular time, with the hour above and the minutes below, but when you toggle stopwatch mode or set the timer, the LED display changes to an hourglass, and as time goes on the "sands" fall from the top of the watch to the bottom across the LED screen. It's definitely a gorgeous timepiece, and sure, it won't keep me from cracking the face when I bump into things or fix any of the other gripes I have about wearing a watch. Even so, the fact that it's so pretty might be enough to win me over if Balykin ever decides to mass produce them. [via SciFi Blogs]
