Award winning industrial designer Luigi Colani is fed up with a common problem that plagues every cell phone user - having different proprietary connectors and cables to charge every different model of phone. He, like many of us, would rather have the industry settle on a standard for charging cellular devices and make it easier for the consumer. Naturally, the cellular industry has no plans on moving that route - they have every right to make as much money as possible on different cell phone chargers as possible, even selling different kinds of chargers for different models of phones made by the same company. Colani's AnyFix Universal Cell Phone Charger changes that.

The AnyFix universal charger currently supports something like 80% of cell phones commonly used in Europe, and considering that a lot of popular models in Europe are also popular in the United States, it's possible the product will make its way across the pond soon. Again, there are other so-called "universal" cell phone chargers on the market already, but Colani's is the first to support quite so many phones and, well, be so attractive; it looks like a beetle. Still, Colani's team plans on showing off the AnyFix at CeBit this week so the world can see how his new invention works. [via Gizmodo via Engadget]
