In the future, at least according to some science fiction sources ("Star Trek," for example), full meals will be created from nothing, in mere seconds. We're still a long way from that, but the Tagco Stainless Steel Roasted Garlic Express ($49.99) is a step closer. This roaster features a non-stick coated interior, and it uses a digital time that counts down the minutes to perfectly prepare up to three bulbs of garlic--27 minutes, that is, compared to one to two hours in a conventional oven. When the bulbs are ready the Garlic Express automatically shuts off. It's not quite like telling the computer what you want and getting it instantly, but it sure beats preparing food the "old fashioned" way!
