If you were under the impression that there's no glamour in gadget land, you are so wrong, my friend. To prove the point: Last week, Jen, Dan and I were invited to an exclusive gala to celebrate the FDA approval of the HairMax LaserComb. That's right--like Rogaine and Propecia, the HairMax officially promotes hair growth. Whoo!
We arrived at Manhattan's Bruno Jamais restaurant and were greeted with glasses of Champagne and (far too few) delicious hors d'oerves. Circulating among the fashionable guests were celebrity impersonators. Why? We don't know, but they all toted HairMaxes and pretended to use them throughout the night. We then spoke for a while with Lexington International's Randy Veliky about how the HairMax works. Through "the scientific principle of "Photo-Biostimulation," the lasers embedded in the product encourage follicles to ramp up hair production. Sadly, after examining Dan's head, Randy wasn't terribly encouraging. But that won't stop Dan from giving it a whirl. We'll let you know how it goes.
More glamourous pix after the jump.

Dan makes friends with the faux Marilyn Monroe.

Faux Liza Minelli, who I thought was supposed to be Kelly Osbourne most of the evening.

Nice post, but:
"the HairMax officially promotes hair growth"
couldn't the same be said for oh, I don't know, oxygen or maybe even water?
"Through "the scientific principle of "Photo-Biostimulation," the lasers embedded in the product encourage follicles to ramp up hair production."
Ah, I love the smell of snake oil in the morning. It smells like success!
Looks like you had a good time though. Cheers. :)

Thanks for the comment, Matt. To be clear, the company's claim is that this product will make your hair grow faster than, say, oxygen or water would. Might be snake oil; I don't want to make any judgments till we get our hands on one and try it. Although one thing I didn't mention in my post is the price: the "Deluxe" version is $545, which seems exorbitant for a device featuring low-power lasers.

I recently ordered the compact for $395.00 since I thought the Deluxe was a bit steep for me (24 yr old, just out of college). I found it at http://www.promolife.com/hairmax-lasercomb/prod_1557.html with free shipping (cheapest I could find). I am bookmarking your site because I would like to see what others' experience with the product is as I test mine also. They also have a 12-week guarantee, so if it doesn't work I'm only out $59.25 restocking fee. Anyway I'll keep updates posted when I have time.

Hey a load of garbage.. Totally!!! use a laser pointer same - result- Nothing... that velicy guy looks like a snake oil seller.. if its too good to be true... then it is.... 12 week GUARANTEE wow... I've been watching my hair grow for 12 weeks and hey presto... it grew a bit.. had to go to my barbers for a trim.. Oh now I get it... If I was using the MaxScam laser I would need a trim trim right?? and as for the HairPRO its competitor http://www.hairprolaserbrush.com/ they all even tout that they were all in TIME magazine... What a joke.. has anyone actually took the time to read the article? Its a SCAM.. steer clear BIG TIME and as for the 36cents christmas tree HairPro from Korea.. Yeah.. The Koreans really did alot for the world eh?

I think Randy's got some leeway with the HairMax. That's all I have to say, aside from the fact that he's got the same last name as I do, yet you don't see many Veliky's here where I'm at. Sorry for it be'n off the subject, but I'm just point'n it out the best I can.
