Sharper than ever
Why does Motorola whisper
When they should be shouting?
Okay, here's a mystery. After a bunch of lackluster KRZRs for Sprint and Verizon, Motorola hits one solidly out of the park. The RAZR V3xx is terrific - great sound, great reception, brand-new software that fixes most of the things that annoy people about the RAZR, the fastest Internet connection I've ever seen on a phone ever, and a processor that's seven times faster than the previous models. I've never seen two successive releases of a phone go from a 1.5* rating (with the awful V3i) to a 4.5* (with the new V3xx) before, but there you have it. And the awesome V3xx is only $49 (much less than both the RAZR V3r and the awful V3i.) Should I put this under Cheap Geek, too? Why the heck not.
Yet Motorola and Cingular are hardly promoting this phone at all. No big review push. No marketing campaign. No "we've finally taken a much-needed leather strop to our RAZR." In fact, they seem to have just dumped a limited number of these into Cingular stores and they're selling them down.
Okay, I know there are wireless insiders around here. Can someone tell me why Motorola is hiding this light under a bushel? Did I miss something?

::cries::
Now if only Verizon would pick these puppies up! My V3c is a pain in the butt, and I had been dealing with low-volume MIDI ringtones and horrible audio quality when I transferred files over the air for a long time, not to mention the Verizon-characteristic slowness in navigating the menus and everything. It wasn't until my girlfriend picked up a V3m this past weekend that I noticed there had been some software improvements, so I got my software updated as well - it helps, but it's not perfect.
If there's a new RAZR out there, I'd love to have it. I'm not quite ready for a smartphone (work gives me a BB, and I like not having to carry it around quite everywhere) and the RAZR is a great fit. The KRZR, however, is kind of meh. Why would Motorola stay quiet on what could possibly be it's best thing ever since...well...the RAZR?

Maybe there's some kind of internal Motorola bias against it because it wasn't created domestically. This is a phone that was originally created for Japan (presumably by an Asian unit of Motorola.)
NTT DoCoMo wanted a 3G RAZR, so they got one. Since it had to compete with all the other great Japanese phones, it was made to much higher standards.
Then when it came time to do a 3G RAZR for Cingular, it was cheaper and easier to base it on the existing Japanese model than to overhaul the 2G RAZR design for 3G.
Perhaps the American teams at Moto just see this as a stop-gap model... a one-time "import" to get a 3G phone into Cingular's lineup sooner, until they can do a "real" 3G phone for them (like the KRZR K3.)

I keep reading about all the geekism in the various phones but no one is capable of testing the basic function. Can you speak in a whisper in a normal noise level room and have the person at the other phone hear you clearly? I am one of those who feels that one should not have to speak obnoxiously loudl in the restaurant or elsewhere!

Motorola can make a great phone and Verizon can cripple it even quicker. My current Verizon razr is lousy and my friends on a different carrier is like a completely different phone.

my Verizon V3c is terrible! Dare I try again?

This phone, Motorola V3xx, is super! I purchased this phone as an upgrade in January 2007 after reading CNET's reviews of this particular model. They were right on. The call clarity is awesome. Sound is great. There is not any sluggishness or freeze ups with the games as with the Motorola SL7. This phone is the best model that I have owned. ( I have had 7 phones over the past years) I am a computer lover and always enjoy new gadgets as they come out. This one may be a keeper as I can not find anything that I do not like about this phone!
The only problem is that I am having difficulty finding a quality leather case to fit this slightly larger model.

Being the owner of both the V3xx and V3i, I agree 100% with this article.
I do know that 95% of the people buying these phones don't care about the increased speed of the phone. Sure it's a great phone, but like my friend said the other day, it's just another RAZR. Sure he might have been a little jealous cuz he's stuck with his V3i, but that's what most people will think, especially because the V3i still looks cooler, IMO.

For the guy here that is looking for sync software, moto phone tools is all over ebay, with cable pretty cheap. also, you can get a bluetooth dongle that comes with software from ebay which is also cheap that will enable you to transfer files from phone to pc or vise versa, but phone tools has ringtone making software in it to enable to crop the song you want to load into phone.

I have looked at this phone in a cingular store and it's absolutely awesome. the qvga display blows you away it's so crystal clear. I am eligible for an upgrade, but as of yet can't get a gold one I want cheap or free, they want 129.00 and has 50.00 rebate thru cingular. If anyone has knowledge of a free or close to free price on a gold one (upgrade), please drop me a line at rambler01@hotmail.com and let me know. As for you verizon folks out there, I feel for you. verizon not only screws up the software in the razr phones, they lock them so you can't up or download anything in them without paying them $$$$. With that fact and cingular having sims to use in any phone that is compatible, plus having rollover and same price plans, there it for me. verizon provides absolutely NO bells and whistles, just ways of getting more cash out of your pocket.

Motorola Store mentions Motorola Phone tools version 4.0 for V3XX on their home, but if you drill down on the details there website mentions this version on Motorola Phone Tools is not compatible with this phone.
Need suggestions or a software to sync my phone V3XX to pc.

Just got the V3XX after using a basic RAZR V3 for two+ years. Agree with everything in this thread; the V3xx is awesome. I probably won't use all the features right away, but may get to web access eventually.
I was with Verizon a few years back and decided they are screwing everyone they can. Gradually I disconnected everything from Verizon: DSL, CABLE, and finally POTS voice line. I won't buy anything from Verizon.

I've recently purchased the V3xx, at a Best Buy in SW FL. I had it for a week and it was awesome. You can play video with really high quality and crisp sound, the battery life is huge and the blue tooth is phenomenal (like 50 ft, through interior walls). It plays mp3 with superior quality and the 1.3 mega pixel camera is amazing; but... BEWARE OF THE 3D VIDEO GAMES!!! I purchased and install a 3d golf game that was an eye-feast, but if you play it too long, the NVIDIA Go-Force video card (yes, this RAZR has an NVIDIA video card) will overheat and burn. In consequence, both my screens were dead and the camera didn't work. So, after 2 day of hassling, and after paying $40 from Motorola for the software (so I could get my data back), I've got another one (same phone, tough).
Advice:
• BUY A MEMORY CARD (you'll need it)
• If you can't afford one, or don't have it yet, copy all you contacts into the sim-card
• BE CAREFUL FOR HOW LONG YOU PLAY 3D GAMES (or in any case, videos... I haven't tried [movies] it, yet)
Note: This phone is still awesome

Neel asked about phone tools not supporting the V3xx. I had the same problem.
Go into the top menus. I think maybe options or something. Anyway, the software is smart enough to connect with Motorola and download upgraded drivers so's you can work with your V3xx. I found it nearly by accident.
It's there Neel. Keep looking. I hope this helps.
