Video game icons Mario and Sonic were akin to Romeo's Montagues & Juliet Capulets, Coke and Pepsi or even Al Capone and George "Bugs" Moran. In other words we never thought Nintendo's Mario would play nice with SEGA's Sonic, but the two are joining forces this holiday season in a new game for the Nintendo Wii. Titled "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games," to be published by SEGA, it is the first time that these two renowned video game characters will appear together in a game. The setting will be the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and will feature a range of popular characters from the two franchises including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi and Tails. And while Sonic has appeared on Nintendo systems since SEGA exited the hardware market in 2000, seeing the two characters in a single game is almost like seeing Germany and France get along. So let the games begin.
