If you take public transportation, you know what it's like to have other people squeezed next to you, looking over your shoulder, reading whatever you're reading, watching whatever you're watching, and staring at whatever screen you might have in front of you. The iStyles privacy screens for the iPod were designed to let you watch "Battlestar Galactica" or "The Riches," or perhaps "Star Trek: The Original Series" or "Starsky and Hutch" (all available on iTunes) in peace.
The screens are completely transparent from the front, so if you're sitting and holding the iPod in your hands you'll have no problem. Your nosy fellow passengers on the subway or the bus, however, will have a bit more difficulty finding out what you're staring at, as the privacy filter makes your iPod screen appear completely black from any angle except straight on. The iStyles privacy screen won't break your budget either; it's compatible with all iPods and sells for $9.99. A small price for a little bit of privacy.

I can finally watch old episodes of The O.C. on the subway without getting openly mocked. Thank you iStyles!

Kyle, we'll mock you anyway!

These have been around for a while. ViewGuard (www.buyviewguard.com) and Hori make them. Worth the money.

funny, this sort of counters the whole myspace effect. folks spend a lot of time and effort building lists of the things they like for the whole world to see, but when it comes down to it, do folks really want to shield their crappy taste from the judging eyes of their fellow passengers? based on the amount of people carrying what i assume to be romance novels, obscured by bookcovers, I'd say almost certainly.

ps., there are problems with the istyle's parallel connections? man, i guess we ought to wait for version 2.0.

Lol, isn't it funny how everyone has their own cheesy tastes about something - yet we're all embarrassed about them?
Truth be told, I don't care if someone thinks my tastes are bad (although, I am certainly not reading romance novels...) but there's nothing more irritating than some wierdo staring over my shoulder trying to see what I'm looking at... or trying to get some entertainment for themselves as well. Some people are just nosy for nosy's sake... and the worst is when it is some MAJOR fan of whatever you're watching that he can't keep quiet about it, and won't leave you in peace to watch it. OR, when there's some kid who thinks it's so cool (whatever you're watching) and then you have to endure his comments or shouting or whatever (while the mom has that "isn't he cute?" smile about her.)

Cool! I'd better grab one of these. Unfortunately, I've been to almost 10 stores here in our place but this thing isn't available. I think I'd better buy one from the Internet.

I have been wondering something. Can the new iPods be used for podcasting as well? I never have been able to get into the whole podcasting thing. Why is it that people look down on me because I do not do the whole podcast thing? I just do not get the whole thing. I was in the mall the other day and I overheard a group of high school students making fun of one of their friends because she was not sure what a Podcast is. Is it not to much to ask that people understand that Podcasts are still pretty new. Not everyone knows that things are right away. I know people that are still confused by internet. So why are people so fast to jump all over someone that might be a little behind the times. This just seems to be the way of the world these days. It just makes me sad that we can not make changes on this.
