Stranded at the Philadelphia Airport? There's one way to pass the time with the Virtual Fitting Room (VFR)--a free service that allows online shoppers to get the perfect fit without the hassle of trying on clothes. Philly Airport is the first one in the country to debut this service, provided by the company Intellifit. The Virtual Fitting Room is described as "a cylindrical kiosk" that's 7 feet in diameter and 8 feet high.
Here's how it works: A person stands (clothed) in the middle of the VFR for 10 seconds while an "antenna wand" passes around them. This wand collects over 200,000 data points, which is then matched against measurements of brand-name clothing in the company's database. Once you step out of the machine, you can start shopping online without the worry that your clothes won't fit. The VFR is completely safe, using just 1/350th the power of a cell phone signal.
Intellifit's "FitPrint" technology matches the following brands: Nordstrom, Levi's, Lands' End, GAP, Nautica, Dockers and Jos. A. Bank. Currently, you can find the VFR at Terminals A and B; other installations to follow shortly. In addition, VFR's are also located at several Levi's stores in Houston, Manhattan, San Francisco, and more. [via PR Newswire]
