The problem with compressed music files such as MP3 is that the compression process can sometimes take out the full sound of music. Fortunately there are ways to get some of it back. The newest iRiver portable media players, including the Cliz 2nd generation and the S7, will feature SRS WOW HD technology. This is an advanced version of the SRS WOW audio enhancement, and is used to improve the playback quality of digitally compressed audio when used with ear-buds or other headphones. The result with the new SRS WOW HD is that listeners will hear a richer sound with deep bass and more realistic clarity. Unfortunately the iRiver players, which are shipping now in Korea, won't be out stateside for a little while longer. However, that WOW sensation might just be worth the wait.

Unless the "advanced" part of that SRS WOW technology is pretty damned impressive, I say meh.
I've had players that had that tech before and it just served to make the music sound like it was being played in a concert hall, addicng small amounts of echo and reverb. Might work for some kinds of music, but for most, it just sounds wrong.
I've had decent experiences with iRiver players though. Their mp3 cd players in the first few years of the decade were the best around.
