Binary Wedding Band

Ecologically responsible jeweler GreenKarat has unveiled a line of wedding bands that will make your geeky sweetie swoon when you propose. These binary wedding bands are made of recycled gold or recycled platinum and hand carved by artist Gideon Weisz with a 20 character message of your choice, all in binary on the outside of the band.

There are five parallel lines on the outside of the band, and each line can contain four characters, and the characters in combination all add up to spell out your custom message. GreenKarat even offers a voluntary carbon offset tax with your purchase, for the environmentally conscious geek, and offers the binary in yellow gold, white gold (shown here) and platinum. The rings run $950 each for gold and $1750 for Platinum, and take about a month to create. As expensive as they might be, they're a great combination of environmentally conscious and geeky that might be perfect for GreenKarat's target audience, and for people who might not necessarily want a huge gem or diamond on their wedding band. The binary on the ring above reads "A Marriage of Values," in case you were curious. [via Diamond Vues]
