I'm soo jealous that PCMag's Sascha Segan and Tim Bajarin and Smart Device Central's Jamie Lendino are in Orlando right now at the CTIA trade show. Why? Because of all the new phones, UIs, and mobile apps on display!! (Plus, I need a new cell phone!) Here's a look at what they've seen so far.
Segan reports that the Helio Ocean for Sprint is basically an upgraded Sidekick, with a dual-sliding capability that reveals the phone and keypad and in another direction reveals a QWERTY keyboard. It integrates everything on one screen and can resize videos while you watch them. There's even a picture-downloading feature that lets you grab images of Web pages. Now that's pretty cool! Expect it this spring. I never thought there'd come a time when we'd have projectors on our cell phones, but Microvision, Texas Instrument, and Explay are working together to make this happen. Bajarin writes, "These are video projection systems that can either be built into cell phones, or, in some cases, could be stand-alone auxiliary projectors that can be connected to a cell phone and project an image up to 30 inches on a wall, or a simple sheet of 8" X 11" paper for multiple people to view content coming from the cell phone itself." Wow. That's all I have to say! For more on CTIA, check out PCMag.com's complete CTIA coverage and Photo Blog (you'll even see some duck tech!).
