Yes, they finally agree: $2.49 is too much. At CTIA today, Sprint announced that they'll be lowering the price of their wireless, full track music downloads to 99 cents at the beginning of April. For that, you get an AAC file for your phone and a protected WMA for your PC. Right now Amp'd also charges 99 cents; Verizon charges 1.99 if you buy your songs from a phone. This should make Sprint's music store a lot more popular.
In other Sprint news, carrier execs insisted today that their mobile TV service was perfect. I'm not too sure about that: while they do have more channels than the new broadcast TV services from Verizon and Modeo, once you've used true broadcast TV on a cell phone you'll be reluctant to go back. It's something about the no-buffering, two-second channel changes and real 320x240 resolution, as opposed to Sprint's squinty little 176x144 frames. The long-term good news for Sprint, though: they say that while they're committed to streaming rather than broadcasting TV, the improved bandwidth of WiMAX should deliver bigger, better pictures when that network launches in '08.
