LG didn't show that much new stuff at this year's CTIA, but Verizon customers will probably be happy about this one: the new VX8700, coming next month. It's an upgrade to the popular VX8600, but pumped up with a 2-megapixel camera that also takes 320x240 videos and a stainless steel body with a "hidden" LCD on the outside that looks like a mirror when it's off. This is the closest we're going to get in the US to seeing one of LG's "Shine" phones, which are all the rage in Europe and Asia. LG didn't give a price, but they said it wouldn't be too costly.
LG also gave an update on their Prada phone, a beautiful black slab with a huge touch screen and an elegant interface that many people have compared to the iPhone. While it isn't officially destined for the US, apparently Prada stores in New York and LA are selling it in a sort of "buyer beware" mode; as a tri-band foreign phone, it should work with T-Mobile. "Similar technologies" to the Prada phone should come to the US in the fourth quarter of this year, LG said.

Well that's annoying. :( I mean, don't get me wrong, the thing looks pretty neat, but given Verizon's history with LG phones, it'll be klunky and the interface will be annoying to use. Why, oh why does Verizon Wireless insist on using horrid phones on their network? :(
