Dutch company Uboatworx has begun producing the first commercially available recreational submarine (U-Boat), called the C-Quester. This one is capable of operation for 2.5 hours and can dive up to 150 feet underwater.

The C-Quester reaches a maximum speed of 3.5 mph, so you can take your sweet time enjoying the sights under the sea. It comes as a one-seater, and a two-seater option is due in June. At just over 9 feet long, 6 feet tall and wide, and weighing 1.1 tons, the submarine is small enough to trailer to the nearest boat ramp or launch from a yacht. You enter the sub jet-fighter-style, through the canopy, and steer with the joystick.

The cabin is pressurized with a filtration system that recycles air, adding oxygen to maintain air quality. The boat is powered by three electric motors with plug-in capability. The C-Quester costs £65,000 (about $85,992), but you need to pass a four-day training course and obtain an underwater pilot's license before you can take your C-Quester below the surface.
