pma-vert-0010_gearlog.jpg At this year's PMA, JVC had the three-chip HD camcorder it announced at the CES in January, the new JVC Everio GZ-HD7 HD Camcorder, which is the first consumer video camera with 1920 × 1080i resolution, although there are other recording resolutions on the HD7 as well, including 1440x1080i (with a variable or a constant bit rate) to allow for more or less recording times. At the top resolution, you have about 5 hours when recording to the hard drive. It stores its video to either the 60GB hard drive or an SD card. JVC also had on view its HD Everio Share Station CU-VD40, which is controlled directly through the camcorder. According to the company, the CU-VD40 can be used to create HD data discs to archive HD video clip files. The HD Everio HD Hard Disk GZ-HD7 camcorder will cost $1,799.95 and the HD Everio Share Station CU-VD40 will cost $399.95. Both products will be available in April.
