blinkcam experimental device

Do you hate it when a camera catches you mid-blink? Andrew Schneider doesn't. In fact, he created an experimental device called the BlinkCam to take a photo of himself every time he blinks.

This isn't something I expect ever to hit any market, but in case you want to make a BlinkCam of your own, Schneider has documented the process. It essentially involves hacking a Polaroid camera, rigging wires from the shutter to a bike helmet along an unbent hanger, and attaching conductive fabric switches to your eyelids. So whenever both eyes close at the same time, the camera snaps a picture.

The merit, supposedly, is making up for all the visual time lost by blinking. That, and seeing yourself how other people see you when your eyes are shut. My guess is that with a camera dangling in front of you, people will see you as a very odd individual.
