Keeping in line with the recent trend of offering memory cards with a larger capacity, Microsoft is finally giving gamers the whopping 512MB memory card we never really wanted for the Xbox 360.
When Microsoft was asking $40 for the original 64MB card I honestly thought they were sending a message to consumers that their hard drive-less Core System was a mistake. They first made transporting the hard drive a breeze and then gave us a memory card that can't even hold a decently sized Elder Scrolls save file, so where was the incentive? What gamers are really clamoring for is a larger hard drive to contain the oodles of Xbox Live content and downloadable programming Microsoft is so insistent on pushing. Instead, we're treated to a 512MB memory unit for $50.
At least it'll come pre-loaded with Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved so gamers who were bamboozled into buying an Xbox 360 Core System can vent their frustrations. [via Gizmodo]

In other news, I think Andre's right, unfortunately. Seriously, for as much as Microsoft is charging for the XBox360, you think they could toss in a 60-80gb hard drive. I mean, I can buy a whole COMPUTER from Dell for the same price with a 160GB hard drive. I know Microsoft is taking a loss on each XBox sold, but come ON.
