Many industry watchers expected Verizon Wireless to debut their new, live Mobile TV service at the CTIA Wireless trade show in late March, but it looks like they're getting a jump on expectations. According to the coverage locator on the Verizon Wireless Web site, V CAST Mobile TV will be available in "select markets" on March 1 - yes, that's two days away.
The site doesn't give away exactly which markets it'll be launching in, but another photo on Verizon's site shows that the first TV phone will be Samsung's Mobi -- not the LG VX9400 with the rotating screen which Verizon was playing up at CES, and which you can see at left.
Verizon's Mobile TV, provided by MediaFLO USA, will offer the "best of TV" from networks like CBS and Comedy Central, Verizon said back at CES. (That means more primetime hits, fewer space-filling daytime chat shows.) Prices have been widely speculated about, with most observers saying between $10-25 a month for various channel packages. I'm sure we'll find out more when the service launches.
