As tiny and as valuable your shiny new iPod is, you'd think it would be an easy target for theft, right? Well not when it looks like candy! iDisguise's iPod cases are built with theft-deterrent in mind, hiding your precious media player in an unassuming wintergreen or peppermint candy tin.
If you happen to be one of these nasty iBurglars who browse blogs looking for iPod-filching tips, don't go thinking I've just given away the secret. iDisguise plans on continually releasing new designs and phasing old ones out, to keep people like you on your toes. Sure, you could start pilfering any candy tin you see, but then you'll end up with far more peppermints than iPods.
The iDisguise models available so far cost $9.95 and can house iPod Nanos or Shuffles. You won't find holes for headphones or chargers in the case, because, as the Web site says, the majority of electronics thefts occur when the device isn't in use. That, and because bopping your head to a mint tin can look pretty suspicious.

Another more proactive solution is to track stolen devices digitally:
www.gadgettheft.com
When a stolen device is plugged into a computer it "phones home" sending the device owner ip address information, along with location and other info that can be used to track the stolen device down.

I had my ipod stolen from my locker at work and throughly regret taking it to work. The company said they can recover it through insurance. Now they have turned around and said they cannot cover it. I am really angry and upset about this because they have no CCTV to track down the thief and the workplace is somewhere it is supposed to safe and this happens.
