issacdaniel.jpgNew York Inventor Issac Daniel combined a GPS locator and an athletic sneaker to design his line of GPS-enabled Fele Footwear for men and women. His sneakers were created using a Quantum Satellite Technology (QST), which incorporates a patented technology called the Covert Alarm Locator Apparatus. Wearers are able to press the Locate Me button on the shoe and locate their exact location on the Earth with a reported accuracy of less than a yard. Don't get too excited though: the Locate button is meant to be used for emergencies only, so if you're hoping to track your cheating spouse's location, this isn't the sneaker for you.

Each sneaker contains an On/Off button, mini USB (for battery charges and data transfer from shoe to PC), the module cavity (houses the modem, GSM antenae, and GMA antenae for sending/receiving communication), and an internal microphone and speaker that can be used as a Bluetooth-enabled phone to call for help if lost or in need of medical assistant.

The Fele sneakers are targeted to consumers, military, and industrial markets. Hikers and skiers will find the shoes useful since they can also measure your heart rate, speed, and body temperature. The sneakers can hold up to 100,000 records of important medical information, thanks to its internal data storage.

According to USA Today, Mr. Daniel tested the shoes on a trip to New Jersey. "It tracked him down the Atlantic Coast to the Miami airport and through the city to a specific building."

The sneakers cost $320 to $365 in limited editions. For the 24-hour wireless alert service, you'll need to pay an additional $19.95 a month.
