Aside from Sony, few companies can integrate an optical drive into a sub 3-pound laptop. The Fujitsu Lifebook P7230 upgrade announced today, adding yet another ultraportable to Fujitsu's diminutive lineup. The unique modular bay can fit a dual layer DVD burner, an extra battery to give you up to 9.5 hours of battery life, or an extra hard drive that can be configured in RAID. Pretty impressive for a little guy.
The innards aren't as powerful as the design, integrating a Core Solo U1400, 1GB of RAM and shared graphics, though, the specs are enough to run Windows Vista with all its bells and whistles. The keyboard is about 90% full size, which makes it hard for touch typists to choose the P7230 over a Lenovo Thinkpad X60. But unlike the X60, you can get the P7230 in white or black. Prices start at $1,699.
