Fooling around with the newest specialty D-SLR lens, the Lensbaby 3G, is a total trip. For those who don't know what this lens is about, check out our original review from a couple of years ago. The newer, 3G version includes a new locking system that I found very useful. And although this accessory is a bit pricey--$270.00--the results are worth it
As the company describes on their website the lens brings "one area of your photo into sharp focus, with that 'sweet spot' surrounded by graduated blur. You can move the sweet spot to any part of your photo by bending the flexible lens tubing." This moveable quality really creates some wonderful results. But, for me, I had a hard time figuring out how to best show this lens off.
Then, it hit me...on New Year's Eve. I was out at my in-laws, who love decorating with holiday lights. So, check out some of my Lensbaby shots of holiday decorations. And if you compare them with my spooky self-portrait taken by daylight, I think you'll agree how the night shots really exploit the soft-focus qualities of the lens.
Check out more Lensbabies images after the jump.
