While on a recent layover in Spain, my girlfriend spotted an electronic store in the airport and exclaimed, "Wow! I didn't know they sold the Sony PSP in different colors!" She had pointed to the pink, blue, and white models displayed in the window. Quite sourly I responded, "Yeah, but they don't carry those in the US." The puzzled look on her face said it all, and I continued to wonder why Sony insists on unveiling all these new colors for the PSP but relegate those in the States to only being able to play the plain black one.
Champaign Gold is the new color the floundering PSP handheld is sporting, and it's set to release in Japan on February 22nd. There's still no word on when, or even if it's ever coming over here. With the incredible success of the Nintendo DS, you would think Sony would try to woo over the fashion conscious by releasing some of these PSP colors over here (and maybe an actual price drop?). This is hilarious. In the South Park episode "Best Friends Forever", Kenny plays a golden PSP (known as the 'Holy PSP') after proving to be the best player on earth.
