Harman Kardon, maker of the Drive+Play, which allowed drivers to integrate MP3 players through the car stereo, has announced the Harman Kardon Drive + Play II. The new device's media manager lets drivers manage multiple portable devices with a single screen and controller, giving them full browsing capability for MP3 players such as the Apple iPod and Microsoft Zune.
The Drive + Play II displays song information on a 3.5-inch color LCD, along with a wireless control knob that's similar to BMW's iDrive. It also comes with Harman Net port and software package for Bluetooth mobile communication and Sirius satellite radio.
The second edition Drive + Play also has an automatic DJ function that allows the user to select the music style, such as artist or genre, that will be played. Styles can then be split up into channels so different drivers can listen to music that fits their own tastes. The Drive + Play II will sell for $399.95; it should hit stores later this spring.
