Storage geeks rejoice, there's a new external storage array in town that promises to solve your lack of drive space. Designed for people who handle huge files and databases like video editors and graphic designers, the FirmTek SeriTek/2eEN4 may have a horrible name, but the fact that it's an external storage array that's small enough to fit on your desk makes up for it. The Seritek/2eEN4 can be attached to any system as long as it has an external SATA card installed in it, and supports Windows, Linux, and MacOS. The array itself holds up to four SATA drives and features built-in RAID support.
The SeriTek's built in SATA array supports any SATA drive you install in it, including the new drives that provide up to 3.0GB/sec transfer rates and sizes of up to 750GB.
You have to supply your own hard drives, but the SeriTek offers a convenient storage enclosure for people who handle lots of data, archive lots of files, or just deal with exceptionally large files very often and need the redundancy of RAID on their data. The SeriTech/2eEN4 is available now for $499.95. Post by Alan Henry
Additionally, the SeriTek's innovative backplane design keeps all the cabling concealed inside the device and out of harm's way. The front panel is lockable to prevent people from removing the drives, and have individual power and activity lights so you can tell if one of the drives has failed. The SeriTek also has a built-in heat management system to keep the array cool.
