Just when you thought voice recorders had nothing new to offer, Olympus comes out with three new models, the DS-30, DS-40, and DS-50, all of which actually "talk" to you in order to help you navigate menus and choose settings. How cool is that?
Using the included software you can download, listen to and create podcasts on the DS-30 (256 MB), DS-40 (512 MB), and DS-50 (1 GB) voice recorders, in addition to capturing audio from interviews, meetings, and other events. These new recorders are also compatible with Audible.com, for downloading audiobooks. In addition, you can download and play back MP3 and WMA files.
But the coolest feature is voice confirmation--the device will actually speak to you, as you set up and save recordings, organize folders, tweak settings, and more. A great help for visually challenged users--or anyone, for that matter. The instruction manual is also available as an audio file.
The devices run on AAA batteries (included) and come with a stereo microphone, USB cable, earphones and software. The DS-50 model also includes a remote control and carrying case. You can get the DS-30 for $199.99, the DS-40 for $249.99, and the DS-50 for $249.99.

It is great - I like the new control lay out - it is much easier to navigate, similar to a remote control or iPod. Plus unlike the DM-20 or DS-2200 it allows you to edit recorded files. Plus the battery life is about 30 hours, twice that of its predecessor. You can do a product comparison of all the devices at http://www.recorders.com/Olympus-c-251.html . There is also a nice high resolution image of the recorder in the photo gallery.

So soon after the release, actual reviews are still thin on the ground - looking forward to yours.
