Someone's finally come up with a way to beat the bloody hell out of your computer without actually destroying it. The way over-priced "The Screen Smasher" from Monkeysoft comes with a hammer stolen off the set of The Flintstones, a USB sensor and some software. You attache the USB sensor to one side of your monitor and plug the jack into your PC.
Before trying out this odd gadget, I had to get over the fact that it came in a hairy box. Think I'm kidding? Check out the photos.
In any case, after installing the software, the USB sensor recognizes the foam hammer and whether or not I'm swinging it. I was literally able to whack my screen (gently, mind you) and virtually smash -- it takes a few whack to smash the monitor "glass"-- to reveal the monkeys working inside my computer. It's a good and somewhat viscerally satisfying way--I guess--to take out your frustrations or a rather lame way to access a not that intriguing screen saver. Why it costs $49.95 retail ($29.95 through www.screensmasher.com ) is beyond me. I always knew there were freaking monkeys in my computer and did not need a screen saver to tell me.
More images after the jump.

This is how I "smashed" my new Windows Vista PC.

This is what the Screensmasher came in. I pulled it out of my mailbox, saw the hair and almost dropped the box. I thought I'd picked up a rat!

Here's the funky, prehistoric hammer and the USB sensor.
You attach the sensor to the side of your screen. It has some sticky foam on the back.

Nothing odd about the install, and hey, it even works in Vista.

A gentle few whacks produced this image.

Another whack got me this.
Finally, the shattered screen falls way to reveal the office monkeys.

When you escape out of the screen saver you get a witty message like this, "Send more bananas or else. Haha, stupid human. Look who's in charge now!"
