Blinx-colors.jpgAndrea Electronics--developer of hardware software technologies for corporations--have been in business for 75 years, but only recently made a move to designing consumer-level products. What's sure to be a hot MP3 player accessory this holiday, Blinx are earbuds that essentially "blink" to the pulse of your music. The earbuds contain LEDs that flash in six colors: white, pink, red, orange, green, and blue.

To operate the Blinx, plug them into your player. Choose a song, and switch the earbuds to the "On" position. The more you turn up the volume on your player, the faster the earbuds will flash. Blinx are available now for $29.95 each.

I had the chance to test the pre-production Blinx model in white. Watch the video of them in action!

The Blinx earbuds are built just like those annoying earbuds that come with all iPods. So, they're not the most comfortable buds to wear, but the idea of flashing LEDs while you're listening to music is pretty cool. I walked around Manhattan at night, and I think people were wondering why I was glowing in the dark.

I was a bit disappointed though, because in order for the LEDs to be visible, I had to turn up my iPod mini's volume more than half way, almost deafening my ears. Other than that though, Blinx are still a cool product. But, they could be every teenager's nightmare, considering parents will be able to tell just how loud their son or daughter is listening to music by looking at the LEDs!

That's hot. :D It's obviously something you wear for other people, and you'll never get to see it yourself, but damn if those things aren't all manner of cool. :D
