Whether you're looking for a simple point-and-shoot or a professional SLR, Fujifilm USA will have you covered in 2007. New details on the previously announced D-SLR FinePix S5 Pro have been unveiled. Available in February, the S5 Pro ($1,999 list) will feature 6.17 million "S photodiodes" (normal DR) and 6.17 million "R photodiodes" (highlight DR) for a total photodiode count of 12.34 million, and will feature Nikon F-mount compatibility with all Nikkor AF-D/G lenses and the latest AF-S optics.
While the S5 Pro might be overkill to take along on your next family vacation, the FinePix Z5fd could be the camera you'll want to take everywhere. This 6.3-megapixel digital camera will debut in March ($229 list), and will feature hardware-based face detection technology, to set the correct focus for the primary face and for all detected faces in the picture, as well as a special dual-shot mode that shoots two images in succession, one with and one without the flash, so you can choose the better result. But Blog Mode is what has me really excited. Images are automatically reduced in camera, for easy posting to a blog or Web site or as an attachment for easy e-mailing. If it could only help me find more interesting subjects to photograph...
