Every emergency kit needs a light source, whether it's a flashlight, flares, or even a candle, but the CyberLux Ever-On LED Portable Light might be an excellent replacement. The EverOn uses a solid-state LED light that's up to 90 percent more energy efficient than regular incandescent lights, and because LEDs don't burn out like bulbs do, the
LED will last for years and years. The LED can be dimmed to provide over 500 hours of low-level night light, 60 hours of medium room-filling light, or 30 hours of bright white light on one set of double-A batteries (sold separately).
LEDs also don't heat up like regular bulbs, so the EverOn is safe to use around children as a nightlight, or perfect to leave running while unattended or if the power is out. Cyberlux suggests using the EverOn for non-emergency situations as well, and says that the EverOn is perfect for closet lighting, basement, attic lighting, or for a mobile home or RV when you need light but don't want to run a generator.
