When I walked by the Sony store in midtown Manhattan last Thursday (the day before the PlayStation 3 came out), there were plenty of people in line, some with dollar signs shining in their eyes. Many were eager to auction off their newly purchased consoles, some even hoping to rake in as much as $4,000 or $5,000. I thought that was extreme, but this new offer has me wondering just how much people are willing to pay for a PS3.

Apparently Taco Bell is prepared to plunk down quite a bit. It's offering up $12,500 - in tacos. The fast food chain will trade a lifetime supply of Taco Bell food (really, $12,500 in Taco Bell Bucks) for the new console.

But wait a second before you assume it's just some high and mighty executive who wants to get his paws on one. Taco Bell, which has a foundation supporting teen programs nationwide, will donate the PS3 to a teen center of the Boys and Girls Club. Reps say they want to offer something to teens because the PS3 is at the top of every wish list this year.

So for those lucky few of you who own a PS3, if you're willing to trade your beloved console for as many tacos and burritos as you can eat, e-mail your contact info to tacobellnews@tacobell.com. The offer expires on December 1, and the first person to respond will be awarded the trade.

Oh, and Happy Tofurky Day, everyone!

Hold on!! People are willing to pay $4000.00 to $5000.00 for PS3? Tell me what is so special about a PS3 or for that matter any game console??????????? I would rather wait till they have been around a while. Because 1) stores will have them in stock. 2) Just like other game consoles there could be problems with them that will need to be worked out. I would rather invest that $4000.00 to $5000.00 in stocks of the companies manufacturing these game consoles then use some of the returns on my investment to buy one.
