Today, Lenovo will begin offering the Thinkpad T Series with a 15.4 inch widescreen option, in addition to the 14 and 15 inch standard options. So how is this model different from the Thinkpad Z61m? For one, the T60 Wide is almost 2 pounds lighter than the Z61m. System weight will start at 5.1 pounds, making it the lightest 15.4 inch laptop in the market. I would love to see a widescreen version for the X Series, and even the Tablet. The lengthened screen translates to a larger and more comfortable palm rest area, and if you live off of spreadsheets, you now have 4 extra columns by going from a standard 14-inch to a 15.4 inch wide.
Aside from aesthetics, there is really little difference between the Thinkpad T60 and the T60 Wide. It's loaded with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and up to 4GBs of RAM. Resolutions come in two flavors: WXGA and WSXGA+. The T60 Wide will come with WAN options from various carriers, including Verizon and Cingular. And it looks like the Draft-N spec is gaining some traction, because the T60 wide can also be outfitted with an 802.11n wireless card, though you'll have to find a compatible router elsewhere. Graphics options include an integrated solution from Intel or a discrete option with the ATI Mobility Radeon X1500. Prices will start at $1,399.
