Everyone likes the idea of free phone calls, but talking to friends and family in front of you PC can be tiresome. With a touch of a button you can go from paying AT&T ten-cents a minute to talking free over VoIP, or more specifically, VoIM. The phone generally come pre-configured to work with a specific IM service, but that is no big deal. PC Mag Analyst Davis Janowski has all the dual-mode details in this story.

Pretty swanky products! I haven't delved into the world of VOIP, but I'm hesitant. I keep hearing from people that VOIP services sound like people talking through layers of wet blankets...anyone have experiences to the contrary?

I've been using skype on my computer for a little while and it works great. The only time i had a problem was when my bandwidth was almost full and the person i was calling could not hear me talking.
Now skype is going to be charging for calls so now its back to looking for that free service again.

For the longest time I am using tringotel VoIP service because they are so much cheaper than any other service, and the shipping charges are absolutely free and I guess tringotel have merged with Sunrocket.

I have signed up Lingo's Talk 365 plan. This plan gives me high quality call connections to Western European and Asian countries. Now, I had no worry about calling internationally.
