The Gemtek Personal Tracking Device is perfect for those of you who love 007 style gadgets and wanted a device that could help you track your loved ones or pets. The Gemtek combines GPS, cell phone communication (GSM) and the internet to transmit its exact location in minutes.

The Gemtek is just half the size of a deck of playing cards and can easily be attached to anything or anyone. Simply stick it into a cheating significant other's bag and surf on over to Gemtek online (or call the Gemtek hotline) to find out exactly where that cheat is off to. The Gemtek comes complete with an SOS button that will send an alert notification to multiple recipients in case of an emergency, and a Geofence safety zone feature that allows you to define an area and be contacted if the subject moves outside of the boundary. Two speed-dial buttons allow the person holding on to the device to call two specified numbers, and the rechargeable battery gives you twenty-two hours of pure stalking.

On top of the $299.95 you'll have to shell out to pick a Gemtek Personal Tracking Device up, you will also have to pay for monthly access to the service. The Bronze plan offers monthly usage of 75 units, and unlimited access to the personal online account for $19.95/month. For $29.95/month you can get the Gold package that offers everything the Bronze plan does, but allows for 150 units of monthly usage. The Platinum plan ($39.95/month) upgrades the usage to 250 units.

The Gemtek Personal Tracking Device sounds interesting if you worry about the safety of loved ones, or just enjoy stalking people, but for such a high price, as well as the unconscionable monthly charges, I see little reason to pick one of these up this holiday season.

I think that this device can simply add peace of mind for those who exercise and are adventuresome. This would be an excellent item to have when traveling across campus, running, hiking, biking, gliding, skiing, traveling, etc. Try to think outside of the box a little, and this becomes a personal safety device.
