I miss the days of watching HBO movies, and the now defunct Six Feet Under and Sex and the City series. But I just couldn't justify the costs of paying $11.95 a month when I have other bills to pay.
Perhaps I don't have to say goodbye to Home Box Office just yet. According to BusinessWeek, HBO may be entering into the online video downloads arena. That's right--all those movies and TV series you love could be available for download in the future.
Unfortunately, it seems that the online service will run around the same price as it would through cable, at $10, $12, or more for a subscription. So, I may not be fitting it into my budget, unless HBO decides to offer a single download of one season of a series; that would entice me! HBO is "examining various distribution [possibilities], including broadband platforms, but have yet to determine which is the best model for our business," says the HBO spokesman. "We're having conversations with cable affiliates as well as all of our distribution partners, and together we will explore all of our opportunities in that space." Guess we'll see what happens! It's About Time. I F-ing HATE comcast.
If I could buy the shows ala cart I could avoid the stupid monthly fees.
