The Samsung A707 Sync (at left) for Cingular's premiere feature is its ability to sync music with stores like Napster and Yahoo! and play it back over headphones. So how, in classic wireless-carrier style, could Cingular screw it up? How about by not including a syncing cable or headphones, and then charging $40 extra for them. That's right, the cable and headphones that are essentially a mandatory part of the Sync experience don't come with the phone, as we discovered when we tried to buy one at retail. (Cingular included a cable and headphones with our review model.)
Verizon Wireless pulls this kind of rigamarole all the time, but we expected better from a company that ... uh ... isn't Verizon. One way to fight the power: buy your USB cable independently online, by searching Google for "Samsung D807 data cable." You should be able to get it for $15. Then listen to music with a stereo Bluetooth headset.
Samsung's headphones are lousy anyway, and in a few months, we hear, you'll be able to pick up an adapter to use much better, music-player headphones.
