In its first attempt at entering the handheld gaming market, Sony did a relatively good job with the PSP. But not all is perfect in the land of portability. As sexy a system as it is, the PSP has a paltry battery life of only 3-to-6 hours, and hand discomfort plagues my gaming sessions. Nyko seeks to solve both problems in one accessory: the Charger Grip. The Charger Grip adds extra battery life, as well as added comfort when holding the PSP with console style grips.
The Nyko Charger Grip ($29.99) is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that provides the PSP with an extra 5 hours of battery life. The rechargeable battery is neatly tucked into the grips that are fashioned similarly to a PS2 Dual Shock controller. Having large hands myself (great for piano playing, bad for the PSP), I welcome any accessory that makes up for the PSP pitfalls that befall a long commute. The Charger Grip snaps on easily, and also slides together when not in use to make it a bit more portable.
Now all I need is an add-on that massages my back while I play and I'll be set. Are you listening, Santa?

Now THAT is a cool idea!!! And not just for the PSP, but for PMPs too. I always see people on the train trying to find a comfortable way to hold their PMPs, and I like the idea of having something to grip on to. iFrogz created an iPod video case that is similar to this idea, called the Tadpole, which allows kids to hold on to the case with grips that are on each side.
