intercooler360.jpg

Although exploding hardware has been all the rage this past year, most Xbox 360 owners look to keep the relative temperature down on their system during long gaming sessions. The Nyko Intercooler 360 keeps things chill for the Xbox 360 this holiday season by adding more fans than we can shake a controller at.

The Intercooler 360 is a snap-on attachment for the Xbox 360 that has a pass-through power connection. It provides increased air flow that is meant to help the circuitry stay at cooler temperatures, and hopefully make the Xbox 360 unit last a lot longer than normal. In my own personal gaming sessions I've found that overheating can, and will freeze up my games, causing me to loose hours of unsaved digital progress that will be forever lost. I'm not bitter, really...

Retailing for $19.99, the Intercooler 360 looks to answer most over-heating woes, so save the roasting of chestnuts for the open fire, instead of a Xbox 360.

This is really really cool. I've known a bunch of people who have had to send their XBox 360s back to Microsoft for repairs and for problems resulting from overheating power supplies and such, and this would be a big help for them, especially for 20 bucks.

Makes me wonder why this isn't standard!

but how loud is it, the 360 already sounds like a wind tunnel so how much noise does it add?

What about reports that the Intercooler sucks too much power from the Xbox? I have heard recently that long-term use of the Intercooler may cause hardware failure. Could you folks follow up on this?

I have one, the salesman at GameStop practically insisted I have one (even more tenacious about it than the extended warranty, if you can believe it). With everybody but Microsoft pushing it, it would be a disaster if these things caused the red ring of death issue.
