CaptainNovolinSNES.gif Nothing spells fun like Diabetes, right? And Captain Novolin, , a Super Nintendo game, is guaranteed to send your blood sugar plummetting! Novolin, the blood-glucose challenged superhero must rescue the mayor from the clutches of the alien Blubberman. (best villain name ever!) But on the way he must dodge flying donuts, bags of cheetos and other dangerous junk food. The player must also answer questions about Diabetes along the way. Presumably an educational game to combat obesity and prevent high sugar intake, it's really just a weird, bad and heavily pixelated game that makes little sense. Be sure to check out the gameplay video--it won't be ignored! Let's consider it a worthy addendum to "Weird Hunter's" Dangerous Health Gadgets roundup.

I remember this game! It was horrible!

Seriously, this had to have been the kind of game that identified the "educational action game" genre-cheesy, full of horrible dialogue, repetitive gameplay, and convenient breaks in between gameplay to shove educational information down your throat, as though the two could never possibly be mingled-it was as if you played the game to beat the level, but your reward was a dissertation on whatever topic the game happened to be about. You'd just mash buttons through the cut scenes to play some more, but that didn't really apply to this game since it got so freaking difficult as you went on.

Sheesh. I suppose we had to have games like this to get better educational games later, though.

This was always a free rental at my local video store, and yet, it was never checked out.

But diabetes is no laughing matter! Eat right and get exercise, kids!
